Starting treatment with braces means getting used to a few changes. Your smile will look a bit different during treatment, you may have to slightly adjust to some new routines with cleaning and caring for your teeth and braces, and your diet will have to change a bit, as sticky, hard, or sugary foods can damage teeth and braces during treatment. To help with this last adjustment, we have put together a couple of our favorite braces-friendly recipes. Try out these wonderful creations and make your summer extra delicious!

Avocado Caprese Salad

This is a modern take on an Italian classic that is tasty, light, and refreshing, and it is the perfect recipe for someone who just got braces. Making it is easy, and you will only need the following ingredients:

      2 cups fresh arugula

      1-2 large heirloom tomatoes

      4 slices fresh mozzarella cheese

1 avocado, pitted, halved, and sliced

      1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

      1.5 tsp balsamic vinegar

      Salt & pepper to taste

First, halve, pit, and slice the avocado, slice your tomatoes into halved rounds, then combine all ingredients in a large salad bowl and toss them to mix. Serve immediately and enjoy this delicious summer creation without worrying about braces!

Summer Party Fruit Kebabs

Fruit is a delicious snack in the summertime that is chock full of healthy vitamins and minerals kids need to grow, and even better, soft fruits are perfect for eating with braces!

To make these kebabs, just select your favorite soft summer fruits. We recommend things like strawberries, bananas, pineapples, kiwis, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, blueberries, blackberries, or any other soft fruit you can think of, and slice them into thin, small slices. Then take a kebab skewer and load it up with pieces of each fruit, alternating for the most eye-catching color combination. Serve the skewers on a tray, and you will see that the aroma and color can entice any hungry person without breaking braces.
